YSM8
The Yanmar YSM8 is a 0.331-litre horizontal single-cylinder marine diesel rated 8 hp at 3200 rpm, with an integral reverse-reduction gear. It was a small sailboat auxiliary, built with electric-plus-manual (YSM8-R) or manual-only (YSM8-Y) starting.
The YSM8 and YSM12 are horizontal single-cylinder sailboat diesels from Yanmar's generation before the GM series. They have a precombustion chamber, seawater cooling by rubber-impeller pump and a built-in spur-gear reduction with a wet single-disc clutch. The YSM8 uses a 75 x 75 mm cylinder.
It was offered with reduction ratios of 1.95:1 or 2.93:1, and as the YSM8-R (electric starting with manual fallback) or the lighter hand-start YSM8-Y. Yanmar's later single-cylinder sailboat engines were the vertical 1GM and 1GM10.
