Yanmar Marine engine
6LY2-STE
In production 1998–2002
Yanmar 6LY2-STE: 420 hp (309 kW) at 3300 rpm, 5.813-litre turbocharged, intercooled six-cylinder marine diesel, the first 5.8-litre 6LY.
The 6LY2 enlarged the 6LY family to 5.813 litres by boring it out to 105.9 mm (stroke 110 mm). The 6LY2-STE was its first pleasure rating, listed beside the 5.2-litre 6LYA-UTE and 6LYA-STE in Yanmar's 2001 catalogue, with a hydraulic angle gear as standard or as the gearless 6LY2M-STE.
Around 2002 it was replaced by the 440 hp 6LY2A-STP. The later electronically controlled 6LY3 (2005-2006) kept the 5.8-litre displacement.
