Yanmar Marine engine

1GM

The Yanmar 1GM is the original single-cylinder GM-series marine diesel, 0.293 litres and rated 7.5 hp at 3600 rpm. It was a small sailboat auxiliary with an integral KM2A reverse gear, later replaced by the larger-bore 1GM10.

The 1GM belongs to Yanmar's first GM series of small raw-water-cooled auxiliaries (1GM, 2GM, 3GM/3GMD, 3HM), which introduced a common 72 x 72 mm cylinder across the one-, two- and three-cylinder engines. It is a vertical four-stroke with swirl pre-combustion chamber, direct seawater cooling by rubber-impeller pump, and electric and/or manual starting.

It was supplied with the KM2A mechanical cone-clutch reverse gear (ratios 2.21, 2.62 or 3.22:1) for shaft drive. It was succeeded by the 1GM10, which enlarged the bore to 75 mm.
