Yanmar Marine engine

4JH-TE

In production 1983–1989

Original-generation Yanmar JH diesel: turbocharged 1.644 L inline four rated 55 hp at 3600 rpm.

The original JH series was Yanmar's first four-cylinder JH family: a 78 x 86 mm, 1.644 L direct-injection, freshwater-cooled block with a Yanmar YPES in-line injection pump, shared by four ratings (4JHE, 4JH-TE, 4JH-HTE, 4JH-DTE). It was replaced by the larger-bore JH2 series (1.817 L) at the end of the 1980s.

The 4JH-TE adds an air-cooled IHI RHB52 turbocharger without intercooler. Yanmar lists it with the KBW20 parallel gear; a 'B' down-angle package (4JH-TBE) is named in Yanmar service manual titles.

Its successor was the 4JH2-TE.
