Yanmar Marine engine

8LV350

The Yanmar 8LV350 is a 350 mhp (257 kW) 4.46-litre twin-turbo common-rail V8 diesel rated at 3800 rpm, used as a single or twin installation on ZT370 sterndrives or inboard shaft drives in motorboats up to about 45 ft.

The 8LV series is Yanmar's compact V8 marine diesel: 4.46 litres, 90-degree V8, four valves per cylinder, Denso common-rail injection and twin turbochargers, with a 12 V / 180 A alternator as standard. Yanmar announced it for the 2011 Dusseldorf boat show in 320 and 370 mhp ratings, and a 350 mhp rating was added later; all three share one block, 3800 rpm rated speed and a 435 kg dry weight. It was the first engine to use Yanmar's own CAN-bus vessel control system and has a wide operating band from a 550 rpm idle.

Yanmar developed the 8LV together with its ZT370 dual-propeller sterndrive, and the (Z) versions are sold as engine-and-drive packages; inboard versions use Kanzaki KMH50A down-angle or KMH52V V-drive gears, and Yanmar also lists jet applications. Twin sterndrive installations can use the JC10 joystick and twin shaft installations the JC20 joystick, with VC10/VC20 electronic controls.

Yanmar positions the 8LV as a diesel alternative to V8 petrol sterndrive engines for sports cruisers, day boats and tenders, for both new builds and repowering. The 350 mhp version is the middle rating.
