2GM20
The Yanmar 2GM20 is a 0.636-litre two-cylinder, raw-water-cooled marine diesel rated 18 hp (13.4 kW) at 3600 rpm. It was widely fitted as a sailboat auxiliary from the 1980s to the mid-2000s, sold with a KM2 gear for shaft drive, a V-drive or a saildrive.
The 2GM20 is the two-cylinder engine of Yanmar's GM10 generation, which replaced the original 2GM with a larger 75 mm bore (75 x 72 mm, 0.636 L versus 0.586 L). It is a vertical four-stroke with a swirl pre-combustion chamber and electric starting with a manual fallback. This row is the direct seawater-cooled version; the freshwater-cooled 2GM20F is listed separately.
Shaft installations used the KM2-C gear in early documentation and the KM2P later (ratios 2.21, 2.62 or 3.22:1); a V-drive version (2GM20V) used the KM3V, and the saildrive version (2GM20C) the SD20. The GM20/GM30 family was replaced by the YM series (2YM15, 3YM20, 3YM30) in the mid-2000s.
