SDe7

The SDe series (SDe7, SDe10, SDe15) is Yanmar's first electric propulsion product. Yanmar Marine International presented it at the Cannes Yachting Festival and Newport International Boat Show in September 2024, it won two DAME Design Awards at METSTRADE in November 2024, and consumer deliveries were announced for June 2025. The three models are rated at 7, 10 and 15 kW continuous at 2700 rpm (S2-60 rating: at least 60 minutes at full rated output), on a 48 V DC system with lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries.

Each SDe is a complete saildrive: the electric motor, 2.13:1 reduction gear, motor controller and an in-house integrated cooling system sit in one unit that fits the standard Yanmar saildrive hull opening, so a boat built for a YM-series diesel with saildrive can be converted without hull modification. The standard package includes a 4.3-inch display, control head, switch and backup panels and harnesses; batteries and propeller are not included.

Yanmar targets day sailers and cruisers up to 40 ft depending on displacement. The SDe7 is the smallest rating and shares its housing and weight with the SDe10.
