2GM
The Yanmar 2GM is the original two-cylinder GM-series marine diesel, 0.586 litres and rated 15 hp at 3600 rpm. It was a sailboat auxiliary of the early 1980s with a KM2A reverse gear, replaced by the 2GM20.
The 2GM is the two-cylinder engine of Yanmar's first GM series, sharing the 72 x 72 mm cylinder of the 1GM and 3GM. It is a vertical four-stroke with swirl pre-combustion chamber and direct seawater cooling by a rubber-impeller pump; a freshwater-cooled 2GMF was also built.
It was supplied with the KM2A mechanical cone-clutch reverse gear (ratios 2.21, 2.62 or 3.22:1). Around 1983 it was replaced by the 2GM20, which enlarged the bore to 75 mm and raised output to 18 hp.
