Yanmar Marine engine

3YM30AE

In production 2014–present

The Yanmar 3YM30AE is a 1.266-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder marine diesel rated 29.1 mhp (21.3 kW) at 3200 rpm, the current top model of Yanmar's YM series. It replaced the 3YM30 from 2014 as a sailboat and small-craft auxiliary, sold with a KM2P-1 gear for shaft drive or with an SD25 saildrive.

The 3YM30AE succeeded the original 3YM30 from model year 2014. Although the name and output are almost unchanged, it is a different engine: bore and stroke grew to 80 x 84 mm (1.266 L) and the rated speed dropped from 3600 to 3200 rpm, giving the same power at lower revs. It keeps the YM-series layout of swirl pre-combustion chamber, in-line injection pump and freshwater cooling with a heat exchanger.

Yanmar sells it with the KM2P-1 mechanical cone-clutch reverse gear for a conventional shaft or with a saildrive (SD20 in the early manual, SD25 in current literature). It is certified to EPA Tier 3, RCD 2 and BSO II and is still in Yanmar's range.
