Yanmar Marine engine

2QM20

The Yanmar 2QM20 is a 1.094-litre two-cylinder, raw-water-cooled marine diesel rated 22 hp at 2800 rpm. It was a heavy, low-speed auxiliary for sailboats and small motorboats, sold with a spur-gear or helical-gear reverse gearbox.

The QM series (2QM15, 2QM20, 3QM30) are Yanmar's low-revving small marine diesels from before the GM series, with an 88 x 90 mm cylinder on the 2QM20 and 3QM30, swirl pre-combustion chamber, and electric and/or manual starting. This row covers the seawater-cooled pleasure-boat versions; the freshwater-cooled 2QM20F is separate.

The standard 2QM20 used a YP-7M reverse gear (the later 2QM20B the YP-10M, with unchanged output); the 2QM20H used the helical-gear KBW10A with a multi-disc clutch. Ratios were 2.20 or 3.21:1 (YP) and 2.14 or 2.83:1 (KBW10A). Yanmar's GM series later took over this role.
