Yanmar Marine engine

2YM15

In production 2005–present

The Yanmar 2YM15 is a 0.57-litre naturally aspirated two-cylinder marine diesel rated 14 mhp (10 kW) at 3600 rpm, the smallest engine of Yanmar's YM series. It is a freshwater-cooled auxiliary for small sailboats and small motorboats, sold with a KM2P-1 reverse gear for shaft drive or with a saildrive.

The 2YM15 was added to the YM series in 2005, a year after the three-cylinder 3YM20 and 3YM30, and with them replaced the GM-series auxiliaries (1GM10/2GM20/3GM30) in Yanmar's leisure range. It is a vertical, water-cooled four-stroke with swirl pre-combustion chamber (indirect injection) and an in-line injection pump, freshwater cooled through a heat exchanger. Its 70 x 74 mm bore and stroke are shared with the 3YM20.

Yanmar sells it either with the KM2P-1 mechanical cone-clutch reverse gear (ratios 2.21, 2.62 or 3.22:1) for a conventional shaft, or with a saildrive: the SD20 in earlier documentation and the SD25 in current documentation. It remains in Yanmar's catalogue, now with a 125 A alternator and certification to EPA Tier 3, RCD 2 and BSO II.
