Yanmar Marine engine

3QM30

The Yanmar 3QM30 is a 1.642-litre three-cylinder, raw-water-cooled marine diesel rated 33 hp at 2800 rpm. It was a heavy, low-speed auxiliary for larger sailboats, sold with a spur-gear or helical-gear reverse gearbox.

The QM series (2QM15, 2QM20, 3QM30) are Yanmar's low-revving small marine diesels from before the GM series, with an 88 x 90 mm cylinder on the 2QM20 and 3QM30, swirl pre-combustion chamber, and electric and/or manual starting. This row covers the seawater-cooled pleasure versions; the freshwater-cooled 3QM30F is separate.

The standard 3QM30 used the YP-10M reverse gear (2.20 or 3.21:1) and the 3QM30H the helical-gear KH18 with multi-disc clutch (2.13 or 3.00:1). Yanmar's GM and HM engines later took over this role.
