6LPA-DTP
Yanmar 6LPA-DTP: 260 hp (191 kW) at 3800 rpm, 4.163-litre turbocharged, intercooled six-cylinder marine diesel, the two-valve 6LPA rating.
The 6LPA replaced the 6LP around 2001-2002. It keeps the 4.163-litre, 94 x 100 mm six-cylinder, belt-driven overhead-cam layout with turbocharger, intercooler and boost-compensated distributor-type injection pump. The DTP has two valves per cylinder. The STP adds a four-valve head, gallery-cooled pistons and a larger oil cooler, which Yanmar's leaflet calls a 'go fast package'. Yanmar did not supply a gear. It recommended ZF63A (8-degree angle), ZF63 (parallel) or ZF63IV (V-drive) gears. The -ZP versions were prepared for MerCruiser Bravo sterndrives.
The DTP replaced the 250 hp 6LP-DTE. It was later dropped, leaving the four-valve 6LPA-STP2 as the only 6LPA pleasure rating in Yanmar's 2010s range.
