Yanmar Marine engine

6LYA-STE

In production Unknown

Yanmar 6LYA-STE: 350 hp (257 kW) at 3300 rpm, 5.184-litre turbocharged, intercooled six-cylinder marine diesel from the late 1990s.

The 6LYA is Yanmar's second-generation 5.184-litre (100 x 110 mm) six-cylinder pleasure-craft diesel, with an IHI RHC7W water-cooled turbocharger and a sea-water-cooled plate-fin intercooler. Yanmar's 1998 catalogue sold each rating with a hydraulic angle marine gear as standard, or as the -M version (6LYAM-UTE, 6LYAM-STE) without gear. The factory service manual lists Yanmar KMH6A, Hurth HSW800A2 and Twin Disc MG5050A gears.

The STE is the higher rating, replacing the 6LY-STE at the same 350 hp. Around 2002 Yanmar's catalogue replaced it with the 6LYA-STP at 370 hp, a rating quoted to ISO 3046-1; at ISO 8665 that engine gives 264 kW (359 hp).
