3GM30
The Yanmar 3GM30 is a 0.954-litre three-cylinder, raw-water-cooled marine diesel rated 27 hp (20.1 kW) at 3600 rpm. It was widely fitted as a sailboat auxiliary from the 1980s to the mid-2000s, sold with KM3 or KM2P gears, a V-drive or a saildrive.
The 3GM30 is the three-cylinder engine of Yanmar's GM10 generation, replacing the original 3GM/3GMD with a larger 75 mm bore (75 x 72 mm, 0.954 L versus 0.879 L). It is a vertical four-stroke with a swirl pre-combustion chamber. This row is the direct seawater-cooled version; the freshwater-cooled 3GM30F is a separate row.
Shaft installations used the KM3-A gear in early documentation and later the KM3P or KM2P (ratios roughly 2.2 to 3.2:1); the V-drive version 3GM30V used the KM3V and the saildrive version 3GM30C the SD20. It was succeeded by the YM-series 3YM30 in the mid-2000s.
