D4-260
The Volvo Penta D4-260 is a 3.7-litre inline four-cylinder marine diesel rated at 260 hp (191 kW) crankshaft power at 3500 rpm. Announced in 2004, it was the high rating of the first-generation D4 range until the D4-300 arrived above it.
Volvo Penta presented the D4-260 in August 2004 as a compact four-cylinder power package, and it became the volume high rating of the first-generation D4: the same 3.7-litre cast-iron block, common-rail injection, double overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder, turbocharger and aftercooler, with EVC electronic vessel control. It was sold as an inboard with a reverse gear (HS63AE, HS63IVE or ZF63, V-drive available) and as an Aquamatic sterndrive package with Volvo Penta's Duoprop drive; it also underpinned the smallest Volvo Penta IPS pod packages of the era. The 2021 D4 refresh replaced it with the D4-270.
