Grandezza 27 OC

In production 2011–2016

The Grandezza 27 OC is the hardtop version of Grandezza's 8.3 metre sterndrive cruiser, built by Oy Finn-Marin in Kokkola, Finland, and introduced for the 2011 season. A fixed roof with a three-part electric sliding sunroof covers the helm and cockpit, over the same hull, lower deck and 265 litre fuel tank as the open-top 27 DC. It is rated for eight people with four berths in two cabins plus two convertible berths, and a separate toilet with a shower. Volvo Penta and MerCruiser sterndrive packages from 220 to 350 hp were offered, with 39.5 knots quoted on the D4-300. The 27 OC gave way to the 28 OC when Grandezza renewed the platform.

The 27 OC was the first of Grandezza's 27 foot platform, launched for 2011 and described in that year's brochure as the new Grandezza 27 OC. It is an 8.30 by 2.85 metre GRP hull with a 20-degree deadrise, a dry weight of 3000 kilograms and CE category C. What separates it from the 27 DC is the superstructure: a fixed hardtop with a three-part sliding sunroof as standard, so the helm and the cockpit sofas stay usable in Nordic weather but open up completely in the sun. The cockpit carries a galley with a Wallas ceramic hob, a sink and a fridge, a table and two sofas, and the yard offered a fixed cockpit sunbed borrowed from the 27 S.

Below, the layout is the same as the 27 DC's: a forward cabin with a double berth and integrated fill-in cushions, a second twin berth, four hull portholes with fly screens, and a separate toilet compartment with a sea-water WC, wash basin, 22 litre hot water system and a shower. The published figures are four berths plus two, eight persons, 265 litres of fuel, 74 litres of water and a 50 litre holding tank. Grandezza never published an air draft for the model.

Engine choice was always a single sterndrive and it widened over the model's life. The 2011 brochure lists a Volvo Penta 5.7 GXiE Duoprop petrol of 320 hp alongside the D4-260 and D4-300 diesels; the 2013 brochure swaps in a MerCruiser 377 MAG SeaCore of 320 hp and adds the D3-220; the final factory fact sheet lists D3-220, D4-225, D4-260 and D4-300 on Volvo's DPH Duoprop drive, a Volvo Penta V8-300 petrol in raw-water and fresh-water cooled forms, MerCruiser 6.2 litre 300 and 350 hp units on Bravo Three, and a Mercury Diesel TDI 3.0 litre of 260 hp. Maximum speed is given as 39.5 knots with the D4-300, cruising 20 to 31 knots.

The 27 OC and 27 DC should not be read as the same boat as the later 28 OC and 28 DC. The 28s are a longer hull — 8.78 metres against 8.30 — with a deeper 1.10 metre drive-down draft, 100 kilograms more weight, a larger 80 litre water tank and a different engine list. The 27's figures here are its own and are not averaged with the 28's.
