Grandezza 27 DC

In production 2012–2016

The Grandezza 27 DC is an 8.3 metre sterndrive sports cruiser built by Oy Finn-Marin in Kokkola, Finland, and sold as the open-top sister of the hardtop 27 OC on a shared hull. It carries eight people, sleeps four in two cabins on the lower deck with two further convertible berths, and has a separate toilet compartment with a shower. Diesel and petrol sterndrive packages from 220 to 350 hp were offered, the yard quoting 39.5 knots on the Volvo Penta D4-300. It is a CE category C boat with a 265 litre fuel tank and a 20-degree deadrise hull. The 27 DC was replaced in the range by the larger 28 DC.

The 27 DC is the open-top member of Grandezza's 27 platform, an 8.30 metre GRP sterndrive cruiser with a 2.85 metre beam and a 20-degree deadrise hull. The cockpit is left uncovered apart from a canopy, so the boat is driven and entertained in the open air, while the accommodation sits half a level down: a forward cabin with a double berth and fill-in cushions, a second twin berth aft of it, a galley with a Wallas ceramic hob and a fridge in the cockpit, and a separate toilet compartment with a sea-water WC, wash basin and shower. Grandezza rated the boat for eight people, four permanent berths plus two, and CE category C.

The 27 DC and the hardtop 27 OC are the same boat below the gunwale and were always shown on a single technical-data page: 8.30 metres, 2.85 metres, 3000 kilograms dry, a 265 litre fuel tank, 74 litres of water and a 50 litre holding tank. The difference is the superstructure — the OC has a fixed roof with a three-part sliding sunroof, the DC does not. The 27 OC came first, appearing in the 2011 brochure; the 27 DC joined it for the 2012 season and both were carried together until the 28 DC and 28 OC took over the platform.

Power was always a single sterndrive. The 2013 brochure lists Volvo Penta D3-220, D4-260 and D4-300 Duoprop diesels plus a MerCruiser 350 MAG SeaCore of 300 hp specific to the DC. By the final factory fact sheet the petrol side had grown to MerCruiser 6.2 litre units of 300 and 350 hp on Bravo Three, each offered in SeaCore closed-cooling and raw-water-cooled forms, alongside a Volvo Penta V8-300 and a Mercury Diesel TDI 3.0 litre of 260 hp. The quoted maximum is 39.5 knots with the D4-300 and a 20 to 31 knot cruise, at roughly 1.2 litres per nautical mile.

One data caveat: Grandezza's own 27 fact sheets and the 2011 brochure both print a single draft figure of 1.00 metre, the brochure labelling it Tmax, so it is the full drive-down draft rather than a hull-only measurement. No overall height above the waterline is published for this model, and the yard names no outside design house — the 27s were drawn in house.
