D3-130

The D3-130 was the lowest of the first-phase D3's three 4000 rpm sport ratings, sitting below the 160 and the later 190. It arrived with the D3's 2003-2004 launch, when Volvo Penta marketed the marinised version of Volvo Cars' aluminium five-cylinder diesel on its petrol-like power-to-weight ratio: an aluminium cylinder block with integrated bed plate, twin overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder, cast-in grey iron liners, common-rail injection and a variable-geometry turbocharger with aftercooler. It was offered both as an inboard on the HS45A reverse gear and as an Aquamatic Duoprop sterndrive package on the DPS drive, so propulsion was decided by the installation. It disappeared in the 2009 update, which replaced the 130/160/190 block of ratings with 140/170/200/220.
