KAMD44
The Volvo Penta KAMD44 is the shaft-inboard version of the 260 hp, 24-valve, compressor- and turbocharged 3.6-litre six, supplied with a Volvo Penta reverse gear instead of an Aquamatic drive.
KAMD44 is the same 260 hp, four-valve-per-cylinder, EDC-governed 3.6-litre six as the KAD44, but configured as a conventional shaft inboard with an HS-series reverse gear rather than a Duoprop sterndrive - Volvo Penta covers both in a single KAD/KAMD44P operator's manual. It was the most powerful of the classic pre-common-rail Volvo sixes available on shafts, sold from 1997 in P, P-A, P-B and P-C revisions until the D6 generation replaced it. In Nordic listings it appears under fast flybridge and hardtop cruisers of the early 2000s; the compressor, aftercooler and EDC system are the things that separate a cheap example from an expensive one.
