Volvo Penta Marine engine

D4-210

In production 2003–2006

The Volvo Penta D4-210 is a 3.7-litre inline four-cylinder marine diesel rated at 210 hp (154 kW) crankshaft power at 3500 rpm. It was the launch rating of the first-generation D4 range and was offered both as an inboard and as an Aquamatic sterndrive package.

The D4-210 was the rating the D4 family launched with, appearing in Volvo Penta literature dated December 2004 and in the parts-date record from the 2003 model year. It introduced the D4's common-rail injection, double overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder, turbocharger and aftercooler, combined with EVC electronic vessel control. It was the shortest-lived rating of the generation: the parts-date record ends D4-210I-B in 2006, by which point the mechanically identical but higher-rated D4-225 had taken its place in the range. Both an inboard version with reverse gear and an Aquamatic sterndrive version (D4-210A-A/B) were catalogued.
