Volvo Penta Marine engine

V6-240

In production 2015–present

The Volvo Penta V6-240 is the mid-rated version of the current-generation 4.3-litre GM V6 marine petrol engine, giving 240 hp.

One of three ratings - 200, 240 and 280 hp - of the same 4.3-litre (262 cu in) V6 introduced in the middle 2010s to replace the older 4.3GL/4.3GXi generation. It uses a modern GM block with direct-acting variable valve timing, an 11.0:1 compression ratio, closed cooling and full electronic engine management with Volvo Penta's EVC system; bore and stroke are 99.6 x 92 mm and the full-throttle range is 5400-5800 rpm. Offered as an Aquamatic sterndrive on the SX or DPS drive and, in some markets, as a Forward Drive package. Substantially lighter and more economical than the 4.3GXi it replaced.
