D11-IPS900

In production 2009–2013

The Volvo Penta D11-IPS900 is an IPS pod-drive package built on the 700 hp 10.8-litre six-cylinder D11, launched in 2009 and superseded by the D11-IPS950 in 2013.

The D11-IPS900 pairs a 515 kW (700 hp) rating of Volvo Penta's 10.8-litre in-line six D11 with the IPS forward-facing pod drive. The 900 is a performance-equivalence figure for the conventional inboard-shaft installation it replaces, not crankshaft power. Introduced in 2009 with the IPS800 as the first large IPS packages — twins for roughly 48 to 55 foot planing hulls, triples and quads up to 80 to 90 feet — it was replaced in 2013 when the new D11 brought the D11-IPS950.
