D11-IPS800
The Volvo Penta D11-IPS800 is an IPS pod-drive package built on the 10.8-litre six-cylinder D11, launched in 2009 as the first of the large IPS packages for 48 to 55 foot planing hulls.
The D11-IPS800 pairs Volvo Penta's 10.8-litre in-line six D11 — twin-entry turbo plus mechanical compressor — with the IPS forward-facing pod drive. The 800 is claimed inboard-shaft equivalence, not crankshaft power. It launched in 2009 alongside the IPS900 at 441 kW (600 hp) @ 2300 rpm on an 1800 kg package, and was re-rated with the new D11 announced in 2013 to 459 kW (625 hp) @ 2400 rpm on a much lighter 1329 kg package. Twin installations suit roughly 48 to 55 feet; triples and quads reach 80 to 90 feet.
