The Princess 40 is a 12.7-metre flybridge cruiser that Princess built from 1997 to 2003. It has two cabins and two heads. MBY called it 'arguably the most finely resolved 40ft flybridge of its era'.

The Princess 40 was launched in 1997 and built until 2003, with a hull by Bernard Olesinski. It is 12.67 m long including the pulpit (12.40 m without), with a 3.96 m beam, 0.94 m draft and about 10 tonnes displacement. Princess's own data offers three pairs of Volvo Penta diesels: KAMD44P (260 hp), TAMD63L (318 hp) and TAMD63P (370 hp), on shafts. It was followed in the range by the Princess 42 in 2003.

MBY noted several design points. The hull runs out to the aft edge of the bathing platform. The flybridge extends almost to the transom, and the cockpit canopy comes in three sections. The galley sits one step above the lower saloon.

The master cabin is forward, with an island double. The guest cabin has twin single berths and runs under the raised helm. There are two heads. A 1999 boat listed for sale carried about 1,136 litres of fuel in two tanks and 465 litres of water. These are broker figures and are not used in the spec block.
