Sunseeker Superhawk 43
The Superhawk 43 is a 13.49 m open sportscruiser Sunseeker built from 2006 to 2009, styled by Don Shead with a twin-stepped racing hull. Offered with engines from twin Volvo Penta sterndrives up to a flagship Yanmar/Arneson surface-drive package, it topped 48 knots and appeared in the James Bond film Quantum of Solace.
The Superhawk 43 is a 13.49 m (44'3") open sportscruiser built by Sunseeker in Poole, England, and produced from 2006 to 2009. Its low, twin-stepped hull with a fine entry was styled by British powerboat designer Don Shead for outright speed and agility, and at 3.63 m its beam is notably wider than that of comparable rivals.
The cockpit centres on a collapsible table and athwartships seating that reconfigures between layouts, with gas-strut sunbed bases opening onto removable storage trays. Below deck there is a single forward cabin with a 1.88 m (6'2") berth and 1.80 m (5'11") headroom at the foot, plus one heads compartment.
Sunseeker offered the Superhawk 43 with a tiered choice of engines: twin 370 hp Volvo Penta D6-370 sterndrives as standard, a triple Yamaha sterndrive option in some markets, and, at the top, twin 480 hp (473 bhp) Yanmar 6LY3A diesels on Arneson surface drives. Motor Boat & Yachting clocked the range-topping Yanmar boat at 47.6 knots (54.8 mph) on test, with fuel consumption of 36.1 gph, against a claimed 46-47 knots for the Yamaha option and an estimated 43 knots for the standard Volvo package.
Launched in 2006, the Superhawk 43 became one of Sunseeker's best-sellers and won European Powerboat of the Year at the 2008 Dusseldorf boat show; it also appeared in the 2008 James Bond film Quantum of Solace. Reviewers praised its docile, forgiving handling at speed despite the aggressive stepped hull, though they noted tinted windscreens and narrow side decks as drawbacks.
