Sunseeker Portofino 48

The Portofino 48 is 16.17m overall with a 4.30m beam and 1.30m draft at full load, displacing about 16,600kg at half load (Sunseeker's own preliminary sales sheet, marked provisional, gave a lower full-load figure of 16,566kg and a shallower 0.85m draft; the higher, half-load figures are used here as the ones the model's catalogue specification and third-party databases converged on). Where the Portofino 47 it replaced put the master cabin in the bow, Sunseeker reworked the hull around the IPS pods to fit a full-beam midships owner's suite with large in-hull windows, plus a forward VIP cabin whose central double can split into twin singles.

The two-cabin, two-head layout is credited to "Sunseeker Design", the yard's in-house team, rather than an outside naval architect. On deck the cockpit carries a self-draining wetbar, dinette seating with a fold-out table, a co-pilot seating area and chart table, and a large sunbather over the tender garage in the stern. Construction is hand-laid GRP with a balsa-cored hull and PVC-foam-cored deck and superstructure, the same build method Sunseeker used across the range.

Standard power is twin Volvo Penta IPS600 diesels (435hp each, 870hp total); a triple-IPS600 option was also offered, taking total power to 1,305hp -- the figure behind this model's headline max_hp. On twin engines the boat cruises at about 28 knots with a top speed around 38 knots and a claimed range of 300 nautical miles; fuel capacity is 1,320 litres and fresh water 322 litres.

The Portofino 48 entered production in 2010 (some sources say the first hull was delivered in 2012) and ran until 2013, after which the Portofino nameplate was retired from Sunseeker's range. PowerYacht Mag's launch coverage called it the brand's first model "fully dedicated" to IPS.
