Sunseeker Camarque 47

In production 1996–1999

The Sunseeker Camargue 47 is a British GRP sport cruiser from Sunseeker (Poole), introduced at the 1996 London Boat Show and built through 1999 as the entry model in the original 1990s Camargue range. It is a two-cabin weekender on a deep-V, prop-pocket hull with twin diesel inboards.

The Camargue 47 (correctly spelled Camargue 47) measures 14.25m overall with a 4.09m beam and 0.99m draft. Like its Camargue siblings it rides on a slender deep-V hull with propeller tunnels, a proven offshore design Sunseeker used across the range for good seakeeping and speed without excessive draft.

The mid-cabin interior has two heads, a large galley with hidden appliances, and lacquered woodwork with rich upholstery -- two cabins in total. On deck, a single-level cockpit forms a spacious entertainment area with a wet bar, plenty of lounge seating and a foldaway table; the aft sun pad sits over a transom garage sized for an inflatable dinghy, and the boat has a teak swim platform, hidden swim ladder, radar arch and a wraparound windscreen.

Standard power was twin Caterpillar diesels rated at 435hp each (870hp total), giving a cruise of 25-26 knots and a top speed around 30 knots. HMY's powerboat guide also records an optional twin Detroit Diesel package rated 625hp each (1,250hp total, cruising at 30 knots with a 34-35 knot top speed); that option is not reflected in this model's engine_options or max_hp below because Detroit Diesel is not in this catalogue's engine-make vocabulary, so max_hp here (870) reflects only the recordable Caterpillar option, not the historical maximum. Fuel capacity is 1,382 litres.

Introduced at the 1996 London Boat Show, the Camargue 47 was built until 1999 and sat in the range below the Camargue 50 and 51, ahead of the smaller Camargue 44 that followed it in 1997. Sunseeker was recognised through the 1990s for the exemplary production standards HMY's guide credits this model with, calling out its exterior glasswork and overall fit and finish as "impressive."
