Sunseeker Camargue 50

In production 2000–2003

The Sunseeker Camargue 50 is a British GRP sport cruiser from Sunseeker (Poole), built 2000-2003 as one of the larger models in the 1990s/2000s Camargue range. It is a two-cabin, twin-diesel express cruiser on straight shaft drives, popular for its build quality and cockpit layout.

The Camargue 50 measures 16.13m overall with a 4.44m beam and 1.40m draft, displacing about 18,780kg. As with the rest of the Camargue range it is a deep-V GRP hull, and unlike some Sunseekers of the period it runs on straight inboard shaft drives rather than V-drives, giving directional stability at the cost of some interior volume aft.

The two-stateroom interior is finished in high-gloss cherry cabinetry with recessed lighting, a folding dining table, an entertainment centre and a well-equipped galley in the open salon; both staterooms have private en suite heads with stall showers, for two cabins and two heads. On deck the cockpit centres on wraparound lounge seating, a full wet bar and a large aft sun pad; a transom garage beneath the sun pad stores a hard-bottomed tender or two-person PWC, and a hatch in the teak cockpit sole reaches the engine compartment. A hardtop was a popular factory option.

Standard power, per a period brokerage listing for a 2001 example, was twin Caterpillar 3196 diesels at 660hp each (1,320hp total) on straight shaft drives, cruising in the mid-20-knot range with a top speed around 30 knots. Other listings mention an alternative Volvo Penta package rated around 610hp each, but no source read for this run gave a verifiable model designation for it, so it is not recorded as a separate engine option here. Fuel capacity is 1,999 litres.

Built from 2000 to 2003, the Camargue 50 sat above the 44 and 47 in Sunseeker's range and below the flagship 51/55, and was, per HMY's powerboat guide, "one of the more popular sport cruisers on the international market for several years thanks to her excellent build quality, aggressive styling, and luxurious cabin accommodations."
