Nord West 430 Sport

In production 2011–2013 Designed by Benny Martinsson

The Nord West 430 Sport is the open version of Nord West's 44ft (13.5m) sports cruiser, built from 2011 to 2013 on the hull of the award-winning 420 Flybridge. It has a radar arch and a canopy rather than a hard top, a choice of three lower-deck layouts, and twin Volvo Penta D6 diesels on sterndrives or IPS pods.

Nord West announced the 430 Sport and 430 SportsTop as projects in late 2009, as larger versions of its 370 Sport and SportsTop. Both were shown at the Gothenburg boat show in February 2011. They use the 'series four' hull Benny Martinsson drew for the 420 Flybridge, with a longer and wider deck and a two-level cockpit. The Sport is the SportsTop without the hard top. It has a forward-raked radar arch, and a canopy on heavy stainless-steel bows closes in the cockpit. Motor Boat & Yachting tested the 430 Sport for its December 2012 issue. Production ended when Nord West went into administration in February 2013.

The cockpit has a two-person helm with lifting seat bases, so the driver can sit or stand. Opposite is a raised seat at windscreen height that doubles as a sunbed. Aft is a lower dinette for eight around an electrically raised and lowered table, which converts to a sunbathing area, plus a wet bar with a sink and griddle. Below there are three layouts: two double cabins each with its own shower room; three cabins with a single crew-style third cabin and two heads; or three double cabins sharing one bathroom.

Standard power was twin Volvo Penta D6 370hp diesels on DP sterndrives. The options were the D6 400hp sterndrive (from 2011), IPS 500, or twin 435hp D6s on IPS 600. Before launch PowerYacht expected mid-thirties top speeds, with the sterndrive faster and more economical and the IPS easier to handle in a marina.
