Princess V39
The 2012 Princess V39 is a 42ft (12.98m incl. pulpit) open sportscruiser with an electric sunroof, two cabins and twin Volvo Penta D6 sterndrive diesels. It was the entry model of Princess's V Class, the yard's first boat under 40ft in more than a decade, and won the Motor Boat Awards title for sportscruisers up to 45ft.
The name was first used in 1994: the original V39 (1994-1996, 12.26m, 7.5 tonnes) was one of the first two V Class sports yachts, alongside the V52, and was offered with twin Volvo KAD42 diesels, Volvo 5.8 petrol engines or MerCruiser D7.3L diesels on sterndrives. The modern V39 is a different boat. It was launched at the London Boat Show in January 2012 and built until it was replaced by the V40, which used the same hull, in 2017.
The hull is by naval architect Bernard Olesinski and is resin-infused. On deck there is a large sliding fabric sunroof over the cockpit, and a hydraulic bathing platform that can carry a small tender, unusual on a sterndrive boat. Below, a forward owner's cabin with an island double and an aft cabin with twin transverse singles that convert to a double share a single bathroom with a separate shower stall, entered from both the owner's cabin and the saloon. The saloon dinette converts to extra berths.
There was one engine package: twin Volvo Penta D6-330 diesels on Duoprop sterndrives, good for about 38 knots. The V39 was Motor Boat of the Year for sportscruisers up to 45ft and took the Best Worldwide Production Boat under 15m award at the 2014 Asia Boating Awards.
