Princess P42
The Princess 42 is a 13.5-metre flybridge cruiser that Princess built from 2003. A revised MKII followed in 2010 and was built until about 2013. It has two cabins and two heads, and was Princess's entry-level flybridge in its day. MBY called it 'the 40ft flybridge boat to aspire to' when it was launched.
The first Princess 42 appeared in 2003. It was 13.48 m long including the pulpit, with a 4.14 m beam and about 12.9 tonnes displacement. It had twin Volvo Penta TAMD63P (370 hp) or TAMD74L (430 hp) diesels. MBY's launch test in November 2003 reached 29 knots with the TAMD63Ps. Later boats were fitted with Volvo D6-435s, and a 2008 boat tested by Aquaholic made about 30 knots and cruised at 25 knots.
The Princess 42 MKII of 2010 kept the same principal dimensions, with displacement rising to about 14 tonnes. It was offered with twin Volvo D6-370s, D6-435s or Caterpillar C7s (460 mhp each), all on shafts. Yachtbuyer dates the MKII to 2010-2013. Princess's later flybridges in this size were the 43 and then the F45.
Below decks there are two cabins: a forward master with an island double and an en-suite, and a twin-berth guest cabin that uses the day head. There is an optional saloon berth. The saloon uses satin cherry joinery, and the flybridge has a double helm seat and a large seating area.
