Grandezza 31OC

In production 2008–2013

The Grandezza 31 OC was the flagship of the Grandezza range before the 33 OC arrived in 2012, and the yard's own literature describes it as award-winning. It is a 9.43-metre hardtop sports cruiser with two powered sunroofs over a single-level cockpit, built in GRP with a Divinycell sandwich hull by Oy Finn-Marin Ltd in Kokkola, Finland. Accommodation is six berths and a sea-water toilet, with a 510-litre fuel tank and CE category C for eight persons. Engines are Volvo Penta sterndrive diesels only: a single D6-330 or D6-370 on a DPH leg, or twin D3-170, D3-200 or D3-220 on DP-S legs, so 440 hp maximum. Maximum speed is quoted at 36.4 knots with the 370 hp single.

The 31 OC is the hardtop half of Grandezza's 31 pair and was the model that established the brand outside Finland. The fixed cockpit roof carries two electrically operated sunroofs, so the boat converts from fully sheltered to largely open at the push of a button, and the cockpit sole runs at a single level from the transom forward to the helm, which makes the whole aft half of the boat one sociable space. A galley is moulded into the cockpit alongside a second galley in the cabin below, and the cockpit unit was designed to take an optional drinks fridge, grill and ice maker. Below decks are six berths arranged around a convertible dinette, a forward berth and a mid berth, with four opening hull portholes and a sea-water toilet.

Construction is GRP with a Divinycell-cored sandwich hull, with an integrated swim platform and boarding ladder and teak on the platform and side decks as standard. The standard specification includes a Raymarine C120W multifunction plotter, hydraulic steering, trim tabs, a fire-extinguishing system, three batteries, a Wallas ceramic hob, a 3.5 kW Webasto diesel heater, a 65-litre fridge, an 80-litre holding tank and a 110-litre water tank. The extras list is long and includes 4 kW digital radar, bow and stern windlasses, an Engbo X-Force bow thruster, a shower and hot water in the toilet compartment, teak on the cockpit floor and blinds for the sunroofs.

Engine options are all Volvo Penta diesel sterndrives and did not change over the model's life: single D6-330 or D6-370 on the DPH duoprop leg, twin D3-170, D3-200 or D3-220 on DP-S legs. Maximum installed power is 440 hp from the twin D3-220 package, not the 370 hp of the largest single, and Swedish databases that quote a "recommended" 330 to 440 hp band are describing the same spread. The yard quotes 36.4 knots maximum with the D6-370, a 20 to 30 knot cruise and 1.7 litres per nautical mile.

Two notes on the data. The specification block is byte-identical between Grandezza's 31 OC and 31 DC fact sheets, which is correct rather than an error — the yard states the DC is the same boat with a canopy instead of the hardtop. And the 1.20 m draft is the drive-down figure; the yard's current 30 OC/CA sheet prints the same measurement as "0,70/1,20 M", which establishes the basis.
