Grandezza 25 S

In production 2017–present

The Grandezza 25 S is the current entry model in the Grandezza range, introduced in 2017 to replace the long-running 23 S. Designed and built by Finn-Marin Oy in Kokkola, Finland, it is 7.53 m long on a 2.51 m beam, weighs 2200 kg and is certified CE category C for nine persons. It is a petrol sterndrive day cruiser offered with Volvo Penta V6 and V8 engines or MerCruiser 4.5 and 6.2 litre units, from 250 up to 350 hp, and reaches 44 knots with the largest engine. Its distinguishing feature is an unusually habitable forward cabin, with large hull windows and an offset double berth that unfolds into a full V-berth. Fuel capacity is 214 litres and consumption is quoted at 1.4 litres per nautical mile.

The 25 S is a classic day cruiser in layout but a deliberately modern one in detail. The main deck is arranged around a large L-shaped settee with a separate starboard seat, a cockpit table and an integrated sundeck over the engine bay, and the boat is rated for nine persons — though Kippari's tester pointed out that seating for that many is a stretch, working out at seven or eight in practice, or one fewer again if the optional galley module is specified in place of the seat behind the helm. Standard equipment is generous for the class, including a bow thruster, trim tabs with indicator, a twelve-inch Garmin or Simrad plotter, two offshore helm seats, cockpit carpets and a tonneau cover.

What sets the boat apart is the forward cabin. Grandezza gave it an extra half-metre of length and used large hull portholes with opening ventilators, which turns the space from the dark cave typical of the type into somewhere genuinely usable. The double berth sits diagonally to starboard, leaving room for a small sofa to port by the door, and a fold-out extension converts it into a full-width V-berth. The optional sea toilet lives in its own housing beneath the helm console behind a curtain, rather than being buried under the mattress as is normal at this size.

Grandezza does not fit outboards, so the 25 S is powered by a single petrol sterndrive concealed beneath the sundeck. The 2025 specification offers Volvo Penta V6-280, V8-300 on a duoprop drive and V8-350 on a single-prop SX drive, alongside MerCruiser 4.5 litre 250 hp and 6.2 litre 350 hp units, both on Bravo Three with active trim. At launch in 2017 only the two MerCruisers were listed. With the 6.2 litre 350 the factory quotes 44 knots maximum and Kippari recorded just over that, with cruising in the 20 to 30 knot band; the 250 hp V6 is said to be good for close to 40 knots. Measured economy was 1.43 litres per nautical mile at about 25 knots, against a factory figure of 1.4, giving roughly 120 nautical miles from the 214-litre tank.

The factory fact sheet states draft as 0.50/1.00 m; the 1.00 m figure is the drive-down value recorded here. Water capacity of 39 litres is listed only as part of the optional galley module, so a boat without that option has no fresh water system, and the toilet is likewise an extra rather than standard equipment — hence the toilet count is given as a range. Air height is not published by the builder and no designer is credited.
