Grandezza 28 DC
The Grandezza 28 DC is an 8.78 metre open-top sterndrive sports cruiser, designed and built in Kokkola, Finland, and still in the range for 2026. It is the roofless sister of the 28 OC and shares its hull, main deck and lower deck, with a cabin half a level down and a separate toilet compartment with a shower. Grandezza rates it for eight people with four berths plus two, a 265 litre fuel tank, 80 litres of water and CE category C. Engine options run from 270 to 350 hp on a single sterndrive, the yard quoting 39 knots with the Volvo Penta D4-300 and a 20 to 31 knot cruise at about 1.2 litres per nautical mile. It replaced the shorter 8.30 metre 27 DC.
The 28 DC is Grandezza's open-top day cruiser: 8.78 metres long, 2.85 metres in the beam, 3100 kilograms and CE category C. Without a hardtop the cockpit is a single open space under a canopy, with two sofas, a navigator's seat beside a double-wide command seat, a cockpit table and an integrated sunbed aft, and a galley with a Wallas ceramic hob, a covered sink, a worktop extension and a 50 litre fridge. The lower deck holds the accommodation the OC also gets: two double berths with integrated fill-in cushions to the forward one, a sofa and seat, a wardrobe, two large opening hull portholes and a foredeck hatch, plus a separate bathroom with a sea-water WC with electric flush, a shower, a vanity unit and a 22 litre hot water system.
The 28 DC and 28 OC are the same boat apart from the roof, and Grandezza publishes one specification column for both: 8.78 metres, 2.85 metre beam, 0.55 metre draft with the drive raised and 1.10 metres with it lowered, 3100 kilograms, eight persons, four berths plus two, 265 litres of fuel, 80 litres of water and a 50 litre holding tank. The 28 replaced the 27 DC and is not a renamed 27 — it is a longer hull, 8.78 metres against 8.30, 100 kilograms heavier, with a deeper 1.10 metre drive-down draft against 1.00 metre, a bigger 80 litre water tank against 74, and a different engine list. The two generations' figures are kept separate here for that reason.
Propulsion is a single sterndrive throughout. Grandezza's catalogue states an engine range of 270 to 350 hp and quotes the 28 DC's 39 knot maximum with a Volvo Penta D4-300, with a 20 to 31 knot cruise. The current fact sheet's own engine list, however, prints only the MerCruiser 6.2 litre 350 SeaCore DTS on a Bravo Three; the sister 28 OC's sheet lists the fuller set of Volvo Penta D4-270 and D4-300 on DPI, a Volvo Penta V8-300 petrol, the same MerCruiser 6.2L 350 and a Mercury Diesel 3.0-270 on Bravo Three X. When the boat first appeared the range was quoted as 260 to 350 hp; it is 270 to 350 hp today.
Data caveats worth carrying: the draft given here is the drive-lowered figure the yard labels as such, not the 0.55 metre drive-raised number that some databases publish. Grandezza does not publish an air draft, a cabin count or a designer for the 28, so those are left out rather than estimated.
