Grandezza 31 DC
The Grandezza 31 DC is the soft-top sister of the 31 OC, sharing the same 9.43-metre hull, deck and accommodation but replacing the OC's fixed cockpit hardtop with a canopy. It was built by Oy Finn-Marin Ltd in Kokkola, Finland, and sleeps six in a cabin with a dinette and a forward berth. Power is Volvo Penta sterndrive diesel throughout, either a single D6-330 or D6-370 on a DPH leg or twin D3s on DP-S legs, giving a maximum of 440 hp. The yard quotes 36.4 knots with the 370 hp single and a 20 to 30 knot cruise. CE category C, 8 persons.
Grandezza's own fact sheet is blunt about what the 31 DC is: "the same luxury boat as the 31 OC but with a soft top canopy in place of the cockpit hard top". Every published dimension, tank capacity and berth count is identical between the two, and so is the engine list. What changes is the character. Without the hardtop and its powered twin sunroofs, the cockpit is genuinely open, the foredeck sun bed is easier to get to, and the yard leaned on the sportier feel in its marketing. The cabin dinette below is the social space in poor weather, and the cockpit the dining space in good.
The hull is GRP with a Divinycell-cored sandwich structure, and the transom carries an integrated swim platform and boarding ladder with teak on the platform and side decks as standard. Standard fit is generous by the standards of the class and the period: a Raymarine C120W plotter, hydraulic steering, trim tabs, a fire-extinguishing system, galleys in both the cockpit and the cabin, a Wallas ceramic hob, a 3.5 kW Webasto diesel heater, a 65-litre fridge, a 510-litre internal fuel tank, an 80-litre holding tank and a sea-water toilet. Shower and hot water in the toilet compartment, a bow thruster, radar and windlasses were all extras.
All power is Volvo Penta diesel on a sterndrive. The single-engine options are the D6-330 and D6-370 on the DPH duoprop leg; the twins are D3-170, D3-200 and D3-220 on DP-S legs. Maximum installed power is 440 hp from twin D3-220s, above the 370 hp of the biggest single. Earlier boats were fitted with engines that had dropped off the later option list — a 2007 example is offered for sale with a Volvo Penta D6-310 — so an individual boat's engine may not appear on the fact sheet used here.
On data: draft is the yard's single 1.20 m figure, which is the leg-down measurement, confirmed by the way Grandezza's current 30 OC/CA sheet splits the same quantity into "0,70/1,20 M". Third-party databases quoting a much smaller draft for this boat are giving the hull figure and should not be used. Production years are not stated by the yard.
