Grandezza

Designed for prestigious moments at sea

Grandezza is the premium motorboat marque of Finnmaster Boats Oy, a Finnish builder headquartered at Lahdenperantie 10 in Kokkola on the Gulf of Bothnia coast. The range covers roughly 7.5 to 11.5 metre sports cruisers and cabin cruisers, positioned above the company's mainstream Finnmaster and Husky brands and sold across Europe and, increasingly, further afield. The parent business dates to 1990, when boat builders Jarmo Kinnunen and Osmo Roukala began making Finnmaster boats in Kokkola and Kalajoki in Central and Northern Ostrobothnia. As the model range grew towards larger craft the company created a separate premium marque, and the first Grandezza reached the market in 2005. Finnish boating press reported around 2,200 Grandezzas delivered worldwide across sixteen versions by the early 2020s, with more than 70 per cent of output exported. Ownership has changed hands within the Finnish investment world. The earlier operating company Finn-Marin was acquired by the investment group Terra Patris around 2015 and the business was renamed Finnmaster Boats Oy; the change was reported as not disturbing day-to-day work at the Kokkola, Kalajoki or Sammatti yards. Jari Lofroos appears in company communications both as Chairman of the Board of Finnmaster Boats and as Chairman of Terra Patris Group. Much of the back catalogue documented here was published under the older Oy Finn-Marin Ltd name, which is why the yard's own archived fact sheets carry it. Boats are built in the company's own facilities on Finland's west coast. Grandezza's own material says the boats are built in Kokkola and Kalajoki and every fact sheet is footed 'designed and built in Kokkola, Finland', while Finnish press has reported that all Grandezzas specifically come out of Kalajoki. Construction is glassfibre throughout, in recent years by vacuum injection in a full sandwich laminate, and the yard emphasises a handcrafted build with numerous inspection checkpoints and a detailed testing programme on every boat before it leaves the factory. The model names carry a suffix that the yard has never formally defined in its own published material, but whose meaning is clear from the catalogue descriptions: S is the open sports day cruiser, DC the open-cockpit cruiser without a fixed roof, OC the hardtop with a sliding sunroof, CA the enclosed deck-saloon cabin cruiser, WA the walkaround wheelhouse boat, and FLY the single flybridge model. Propulsion has historically been Volvo Penta diesel sterndrives, latterly alongside MerCruiser and Mercury Diesel packages and Yanmar options on the larger boats. From the mid-2020s the company added a dedicated outboard line under an OEM supply agreement with Mercury Marine, launching the 30 Outboard and 37 Outboard and taking its global sales and marketing in-house. The brand has collected several awards. The Grandezza 37 CA won its category in the Motor Boat & Yachting Motorboat Awards 2021, and the Grandezza 30 CA was named boat of the year at the Allt for Sjon show in Stockholm in 2023. The dealer network has expanded well beyond the Nordics, with appointments announced in Latvia, Lithuania, Egypt, Kuwait and South Korea alongside a presence in Sweden, Estonia, Spain and Slovenia.
