V8-430
The Volvo Penta V8-430 is the 430 hp version of the current-generation 6.2-litre GM V8 marine petrol engine, the most powerful petrol engine in the modern Volvo Penta range.
Announced in August 2013 alongside the V8-350 as a sibling to the V8-380, the V8-430 shares that engine's 6.2-litre (376 cu in) block, 103 x 92 mm bore and stroke, 11.5:1 compression and 5600-6000 rpm full-throttle range, tuned for 430 hp. Volvo Penta's launch claim was that the 430 and 350 hp packages weighed around 100 kg less than anything else in their classes. Variable valve timing, closed cooling and EVC electronic engine management throughout. Offered as an Aquamatic sterndrive on the DPS twin-prop drive, in Forward Drive packages and as an inboard; in the modern range it takes the place the 8.1GXi held.
