D6-400
The Volvo Penta D6-400 is the 400 hp rating of the D6, a 5.5-litre six-cylinder common-rail turbodiesel for sterndrive and inboard installations.
The D6-400 is a mid rating of Volvo Penta's D6 family, a 5.5-litre in-line six-cylinder common-rail turbodiesel offered as an Aquamatic sterndrive or inboard package. It is offered in the Targa 27.2, 30.1 and 32 as a single and in the Targa 32 as a twin. The D6-400 designation spans both D6 generations: the first-generation engine, current on Volvo Penta's 04-2019 DPH product sheet, was rated at the same 294 kW (400 hp) at 3500 rpm but was a DPH-drive package (780 kg including the drive). The figures here are the post-2021 DPI-drive engine — the two generations must not be read as one set of numbers.
