Volvo Penta Marinmotor

MD2010

I produktion 1995–2005

The Volvo Penta MD2010 is a 10 hp twin-cylinder freshwater-cooled marine diesel, the smallest engine in the 2000-series auxiliary range that served small cruising sailboats from the mid-1990s until the D1 series replaced it.

A naturally aspirated in-line two of just 0.45 litres, bore 67 mm and stroke 64 mm, producing 7.5 kW (10 hp) crankshaft at a full-throttle operating speed of 3200-3600 rpm. Sold in A, B, C and D revisions, it could be ordered with the MS10A or MS10L reverse gear for a shaft installation or with the MS25S saildrive, and it is the direct replacement for the old MD5 in boats around 24-28 feet. It is a light, high-revving, comparatively quiet engine by the standards of what it replaced, and its small displacement means it must be worked to move a boat in a seaway. On the used market the whole 2000-series is desirable because it is recent enough for parts and service support while still being a purely mechanical engine with no electronics to fail.
