ZT350
Yanmar's first in-house sterndrive, a counter-rotating twin-propeller leg with a hydraulic clutch launched in 2008-2009 for the BY and LP series diesels; replaced by the ZT370 from 2011.
The ZT350 was designed and manufactured by Yanmar for its BY (BMW-based) and LP series diesel engines, and used a hydraulic clutch instead of the cone clutch common on sterndrives, giving shock-free engagement. It has two counter-rotating propellers, precision-forged gears, power steering and power trim, and weighs 112 kg with propellers. Yanmar quoted ratios of 1.65:1 and 1.78:1 for inputs up to 350 mhp (257 kW) at 3,800 rpm, and 1.97:1 or 2.18:1 for up to 260 mhp (191 kW) at 4,000 rpm, and said it had the same installation dimensions as other drives on the market, so it could be used for repowering.
It was shown at the Fort Lauderdale boat show in autumn 2008 and went on sale in January 2009. Before it, Yanmar sold its sterndrive engines with MerCruiser drives. The ZT350 was succeeded by the ZT370, announced with the 8LV V8 in February 2011.
