SZ60
Yanmar's own 1978 inboard-outboard Z-drive for small diesel boats in Japan, sold with the 2HS75Z, 3T75Z and 3HMZ engines and fitted to Yanmar's Marine Hunter FZ pleasure boats from 1980.
The SZ60 was the drive unit of Yanmar's 'Z drive' system: a diesel engine mounted inside the hull driving an outboard-style leg, meant to combine diesel fuel economy with the shallow draught of a petrol outboard. Yanmar launched it in October 1978 in its ZD series of diesel Japanese-style work boats with the 2HS75Z (18 hp) and 3T75Z (28 hp) engines, and from November 1978 sold engines and drives separately; Yanmar's corporate history also pictures a 3HMZ x SZ60 package from 1978.
In April 1980 Yanmar used the Z drive in its first pleasure boat, the Marine Hunter FZ22, and the FZ and later FM series together sold more than 3,000 boats. No technical specification for the SZ60 was found.
