Yanmar saildrive

SD50

Cone-clutch Yanmar saildrive with a 2.32:1 reduction for the JH4 and JH5 diesels up to 75 hp, including the SD50-4T/SD50-T turbo variant; replaced by the SD60.

The SD50 shares its design with the SD40: a bevel gear set with a cone clutch and a 2.32:1 reduction ahead and astern, with inner and outer diaphragm seals and a water sensor. Yanmar's datasheets give a dry weight of 40 kg (42 kg for the SD50-T); the 2004 operation manual gives 39 kg and 41 kg. The SD50 was offered with the 3JH4E and 4JH4E and later the 3JH5CE and 4JH5CE, while the turbocharged 4JH3-TCE and 4JH4-TCE used the SD50-4T (called SD50-T on datasheets), which Yanmar specifies with Quicksilver High Performance Gear Lube.

The SD50 was still in Yanmar's line-up in 2013 but was replaced by the SD60, which switched to a multi-plate clutch; the first Yanmar document found listing the SD60 on these engines is the JH-series operation manual of 2014.
