400R

This row is the current V10 400R, not the engine Axopar, BRABUS and many pre-2024 ads mean by 400R.

Mercury Racing unveiled the V10 before the 2023 Miami International Boat Show. It is a naturally aspirated 5.7-litre (349 cid) 64-degree V10 with the Racing Quad Cam Four Valve (QC4) 40-valve DOHC head and a proprietary 92 mm throttle body. Official figures are 400 hp / 298 kW, WOT 6000–6600 rpm, and a lightest dry weight of 695 lb / 315 kg. It runs full power on 87 octane. Gearcase choice is the surface-piercing Sport Master or the 5.44-inch HD, both 1.60:1.

The name 400R previously belonged to a completely different engine. The Mercury Racing Verado 400R launched at Miami in February 2015 was a supercharged 2.6-litre inline-six, the last high-output member of the 2004 Verado L6 family. It made 400 hp on a 6400–7000 rpm WOT band and weighed about 668 lb / 303 kg. Mercury Racing said in 2023 that the V10 replaces that L6 400R. Do not average the two. Boat options labelled 400R, Verado 400R or 400R Verado on pre-2024 boats are the L6; this row carries current V10 specs.

Do not confuse it with the recreational Mercury Verado V10-400. 'Verado 400' is not an alias here.
