500R

In production 2023–present

The Mercury Racing 500R is a supercharged 4.6-litre 64-degree V8 four-stroke outboard rated 500 hp (372 kW). It is the current R-series flagship.

The 500R is a current, distinct catalog model. Mercury Racing's R-series index leads with it.

Brunswick announced it in June 2023. It uses the same 4.6-litre 64-degree V8 DOHC 32-valve family as the 450R, with a 500R-specific crankshaft, stronger internals, 26 percent more supercharger boost and a 92 mm throttle body. Official rating is 500 hp / 372 kW at 6000–6600 rpm. The midsection is the Advanced Racing Core (ARC), exclusive to the 500R. Gearcases are the 5.9-inch R-Drive and R-Drive Sport at 1.60:1.

Official lightest dry weight is 726 lb. Mercury's Europe table does not print a kilogram figure; 329 kg is that 726 lb converted.

It is not a replacement name for the 450R: both exist as separate ratings.
