MerCruiser Marine engine

4.5L 250

In production 2014–present

The MerCruiser 4.5L 250 is the 250 hp H.O. rating of Mercury's in-house 4.5-litre petrol V6, the volume mid-range sterndrive that replaced the 4.3L V6.

The 4.5L 250 is the original and higher rating of the 4.5-litre marine V6 Mercury designed from a clean sheet at Fond du Lac and put on sale in 2014. It is the same 275 cu in 2-valve pushrod V6 as the 200, calibrated to 250 hp (186 kW) with a 4800–5200 rpm WOT band. It is what retired the last GM-based 4.3L V6 from the sterndrive catalog. The 200 and 250 must not be averaged.

Unlike the Alpha-only 200, the 250 is catalogued with Alpha One and Bravo One, Two and Three, and it is the bottom of the Bravo Four S pairing band (250–430 hp). Bravo Four S is a forward-facing sterndrive, not a pod. There is no 4.5L Horizon or TowSport inboard on the current US catalog.
