Flipper 800 DC

In production 2019–present Designed by Espen Thorup

The Flipper 800 DC is an 8.08 m GRP day cruiser for a single Mercury outboard of up to 400 hp, designed by Espen Thorup. It was presented at the Helsinki boat show in February 2019 as the successor to the Flipper 760 DC, from which it differs visibly mainly in its added stern swim platforms. It remains in the Flipper range, now marketed by Cremo Boats AB.

The 800 DC was designed by Espen Thorup and replaced the 760 DC at the top of Flipper's day cruiser line. Its published beam of 2.54 m, dry weight of 1,700 kg, 256 l fuel tank, 0.75 m draught and 2+2 berths are the same as the 760 DC's, while the overall length rises from 7.58 m to 8.08 m; press reports attributed the difference mainly to swim platforms added either side of the outboard. It is CE category C for eight persons, against seven for the 760 DC. Flipper describes the hull as its Speedhull and the structure as a vacuum-moulded double frame intended to add stiffness and reduce noise in the cockpit.

The layout follows the 760 DC: a large cockpit with an L-shaped sofa and table, a sunbed, an offshore helm seat and a bow cabin with a V-berth. Standard equipment in the 2026 brochure includes a 256 l fixed tank, trim tabs, hydraulic steering, a wash basin and Mercury cruise control with Active Trim; a 48 l fresh water system, flushing toilet with septic tank, refrigerator drawer, gas cooker and heater are options.

The boat is built for a single extra-long-shaft Mercury outboard. The 2019 price list offered engines from a 225 hp V6 through the 250 hp and 300 hp V8 Verados, a 350 hp Verado and the 400 hp Mercury Racing 400R, for a range of 200 to 400 hp. The 2026 brochure lists two packages, the 300 hp V8 and 400 hp V10 Verado. float Magazin reported a top speed of over 50 knots, around 55 knots with two people aboard.

The 800 DC was introduced at the Vene Båt show in Helsinki in February 2019, shortly after Nimbus Boats Sweden AB acquired Bella-Veneet Oy in November 2018. Nimbus later sold the Flipper brand and the moulds of the smaller models to the Swedish builder Cremo Boats AB, whose 2026 range brochure, valid from 2025, still includes the 800 DC.

In the current range the 800 DC is a mid-to-upper day cruiser, above the 650 DC and 700 DC and below the 900 DC.
