Flipper 900 DC

In production 2020–present Designed by Meyer Norschau Design

The Flipper 900 DC is a 9.05-metre glassfibre day cruiser for twin Mercury outboards of up to 300 hp each, with a bow cabin, a secondary sleeping area under the helm and an enclosed toilet. It is certified in CE design category B for seven persons and category C for eleven. It was launched in August 2020 at the Helsinki in-water boat show as Flipper's largest day cruiser.

The 900 DC is 9.05 m long and 3.10 m wide, with a draught of 0.70 m and a dry weight of 3,100 kg without engines. Båtliv gives the hull deadrise as 21 degrees. The fuel tank holds 445 litres and the pressurised fresh water system 96 litres. Although it shares its length designation with the 900 ST, a Yachting News test reported that the two models use different hulls.

The open cockpit has U-shaped seating around an electrically adjustable folding table that converts to a sunbed, three offshore seats at the helm, and an aft folding sunbed seat. Below deck are a double berth in the bow, a secondary sleeping area under the cockpit and a toilet compartment; the builder lists berths as 3 + 2. Standard equipment on the current model includes a bow thruster, pantry with diesel stove and sink, 65-litre refrigerator, trim tabs and a Simrad Glass Bridge display.

The current configurator lists twin Mercury F225 V6 DTS or twin Mercury V300 V8 DTS outboards. Yachting News tested the boat in 2020 with twin 250 hp Mercury Verado V8 engines and reported a top speed of about 48 knots in flat water; Båtliv recorded 52.5 knots with twin 300 hp Mercury outboards. The designer reported more than 47 knots with twin 225 hp engines.

The design is credited by Karl M. S. Norschau of Meyer Norschau Design, who presented it at the Uiva in-water boat show in Helsinki in August 2020. Båtliv compared it with the Yamarin 88 DC in 2021, a test the Swedish importer presents as won by the Flipper, and it was a finalist in the 2024 Motor Boat Awards at boot Düsseldorf.

The 900 DC was the largest model in the Flipper day cruiser range above the 800 DC. It remains on flipperboats.fi but is not included in the 2026 model brochure or in the 2027 facelift announcement, which covers only the 650 DC, 700 DC and 800 DC.
