Flipper 670 DC

The 670 DC is a glass-fibre planing boat of 6.66 m length and 2.48 m beam, weighing 1,300 kg without engine according to the 2014 price list and rated CE category C for seven persons. Its designer, Espen Thorup, placed the windscreen well forward to enlarge the cockpit at the expense of the cabin, gave the hull a relatively sharp V-bottom and a blunt bow intended to make stepping ashore easier. Båtnytt reported that the hull took short, steep head seas well and planed easily.

The forward cabin holds a V-berth, listed as 2+2 berths, with space for a chemical or pump-out toilet; it has no deck hatch, which keeps the foredeck clear. There is no fixed galley. Three steps and a door in the windscreen lead to a flat foredeck. The cockpit seats six adults, with a large stowage space under the aft sofa for the folded canopy. The driving position has an adjustable wheel, a footrest and a bolster seat that allows driving half-standing; testers noted limited forward visibility through the steeply raked windscreen. Standard equipment in 2014 included a 214-litre fuel tank, hydraulic steering, SmartCraft instruments and a cockpit table.

The boat is rated for a single outboard of 135 to 250 hp. The 2014 Swedish price list offered a Mercury F150 EFI or 200, 225 and 250 hp Mercury Verados. Båtnytt's 2012 test boat carried a 300 hp engine, which the magazine noted was 50 hp above the CE rating; its fuel-consumption table, taken with a 135 hp Verado, gave a top speed of about 34.5 knots. The builder's tables record 42.6 knots at 5,000 rpm with a 250 hp Verado.

The 670 DC was presented in early 2012, and Båtnytt described it as the start of a new series of Flipper models to be followed by the 670 ST and 760 DC. For the 2019 model year it became the Flipper 700 DC, which differs mainly in separate swim-platform extensions (7.17 m overall) and a rating of up to 300 hp while keeping the interior; the 2019 price list gives the 700 DC a 188-litre tank.

In the mid-2010s range it sat between the 640 DC and the 760 DC, with the 670 ST as its sport-top counterpart on the same dimensions.
