Flipper 640 DC

The 640 DC is a glass-fibre planing boat of 6.25 m length and 2.46 m beam, weighing 1,050 kg without engine and rated CE category C for seven persons. Its styling is by Espen Thorup, who drew the new generation of Flipper boats that Bella-Veneet launched from 2012, starting with the larger 670 and 880 models; Kippari described the 640 models as scaled-down versions of the 670s, roughly 300 kg lighter depending on engine.

The layout follows the day-cruiser pattern: a lockable forward cabin under the foredeck with berths listed as 2+2 in the 2014 price list and space for a chemical or pump-out toilet, a centre passage through the windscreen to the foredeck, and an open cockpit with a table, sink, sun-lounger conversion and walk-through transom. Standard equipment in 2014 included hydraulic steering, Mercury SmartCraft instruments, teak-laminate cockpit flooring, a 145-litre fuel tank and a canvas cabin; a 48-litre fresh-water tank, gas stove, trim tabs and teak decking were options.

The boat is designed for a single outboard of 115 to 200 hp. The 2014 Swedish price list offered it with a Mercury F115 or F150 EFI four-stroke or a 200 hp Mercury Verado. Performance tables published by the builder record about 34 knots at 5,000 rpm with the 150 hp engine and 42.6 knots at 6,000 rpm with the 200 hp Verado, with two people aboard.

The 640 DC entered the range for the 2013 season. Flipper's Swedish importer stated that it became the best-selling day cruiser of its type in Sweden. From the 2019 season the boat was sold as the Flipper 650 DC, with an overall length of 6.74 m but the same 2.46 m beam, 1,050 kg dry weight, 145-litre tank and 115–200 hp rating; Nettivene attributed the rename to Bella-Veneet's launch of its own Bella 640 DC that year.

Within the Flipper range of the mid-2010s the 640 DC sat between the 600 DC and the 670 DC, with the 640 ST as its sport-top counterpart on the same dimensions.
